American Heart Month/ A-1 Home Care Century City

Clean eating and a plant based diet is definitely the way to go when gearing up for heart health. As part of this month's National American Heart Month, we at A-1 Home Care have healthy eating tips for the seniors in your life.

Food is energy for your body. Nothing more, nothing less. Think about your food before you eat: "Why am I eating this?” “Do I really need this?" This will help you focus on eating enough to keep you moving, and choosing foods that will give you prolonged energy.  Heart healthy meals include materials that you can purchase at the produce section of the grocery store, and fresh low fat meats. Try to stay at the edges of the supermarket. This is where the organic and "real" foods are.

Many Americans consume diets laden with fats and carbohydrates. A much bettter way to go is to eat a clean, plant based diet. Think fruits, veggies, and legumes for meals and snacks. A nice apple is a satisfying snack, with natural sweetness and only about 80 calories. wonderful for your health.
